Where Did All The Time Go?

Lyrics by Hal Pollock

I’ve been looking back across my life
And thinking about time
About all the time I wasted
How it was just such a crime
You never think when you are young
That when your time is spent
One day you will be looking back
And wondering where it went

Where did all the time go?
I wasted on the way
Is there a way to get it back
To live another day?
If I knew then what I know now
I’d never waste my time
But time is wasted by the young
No reason and no rhyme

If we could put time in a bottle
If wishes came magically true
I’d store some away
So that some rainy day
I could stay here forever with you
But we can’t save time in a bottle
It will never come magically true
And so it must be
It is my destiny
To share this sad story with you

When you are young time is your friend
You never stop to think
That one day you’ll be old
And you’ll be standing on the brink
Make every moment count
For there is sure to come a day
You’ll wish you had the time back
You wasted on the way

Live each day like it’s your last
For the days will flutter past
Until one day the die is cast
And you are out of time

Where did all the time go?
I wasted on the way
Is there a way to get it back
To live another day?
If I knew then what I know now
I’d never waste my time
But time is wasted by the young
No reason and no rhyme

If we could put time in a bottle
If wishes came magically true
I’d store some away
So that some rainy day
I could stay here forever with you
But we can’t save time in a bottle
It will never come magically true
And so it must be
It is my destiny
