THE THINGS WE NEVER SAID

The Things We Never Said

Lyrics by Hal Pollock

We all keep secrets locked inside
And some we never say
Even if it breaks a heart
Sends someone on their way
‘Cause sometimes it is hard to say
The things we really feel
And so we keep them locked inside
And never to reveal

If I could do it all again
I’d say the things I never said
I’d shout them from a mountain top
If back to you it led
I’d write them all across the sky
And push the clouds away
So everyone could read my words
And this is what I’d say

Of all the people I have known
You are my only love
The one I had always hoped to find
Was always dreaming of
If I should live a million years
I know I’ll never find
Another person just like you
So warm and sweet and kind

We go through life in search of love
But rarely do we find
The one with whom we’re meant to be
So gentle on our mind
And sometimes with that special one
We leave some words unsaid
That could have made a difference
In the lives that we have led

Can we give love another try
Would that be such a crime?
And say what’s in our hearts
And get our hearts to beat in time
We’ll say the things we truly feel
The words we never said
And maybe this time we’ll find love
And happiness instead

If I could do it all again
I’d say the things I never said
I’d shout them from a mountain top
If back to you it led
I’d write them all across the sky
And push the clouds away
And maybe when you hear my words
Then you’ll decide to stay
