Lavender Orchids

Lyrics by Hal Pollock

I was standing in line at our favorite store
So many times we had been there before
Lost in a dream as I walked toward the door
It was there that I saw them the ones you adore

Lavender orchids
As tears filled my eyes
Lavender orchids
I started to cry
Those lavender orchids you loved most of all
And placed ‘round the house from the spring through the fall

Most every Sunday we’d go to that store
You’d always remind me you had to get more
Of those lavender orchids whenever you’re able
That you always kept in a vase on the table

Lavender orchids
As tears filled my eyes
Lavender orchids
I started to cry
Those lavender orchids that we used to share
Once in a dream when you were still there

I bought every orchid they had there today
Took them straight home where for now they will stay
In all the same places that you used to do
But somehow it isn’t the same without you

Those lavender orchids their scent fills the air
A constant reminder of when you were there
And lavender orchids always will be
A remembrance of love that was once you and me
