Geriatric Love

Lyrics by Hal Pollock

I got this infatuation
Dr. says it’s killing me
My kids all think I’m crazy
But I’m only 83
They say that I’m too old for love
She’s half the age of me
But I say what the Hell
Why can’t they let an old man be?

There’s this girl that I’ve been seein’
She’s a tender 43
I like to say she keeps me young
We’ll have to wait and see
She fell out of her cradle
And she landed right on me
I needed the deduction
And they told me she’s tax free

There’s no fool like an old fool
Some people like to say
But this fool’s back in love
And that’s where I’m gonna stay
They’ll write it on my tombstone
When I travel on some day
Could be this afternoon
I’m headed on my merry way

A man jumped off a building
He was half way to the ground
A spectator yelled up at him
The man then looked around
How’s it going up there buddy?
“Well it’s pretty good so far”
And that’s just how I feel
Though he landed on a car

So that’s my whole life story
Live each day like it’s your last
You never know when it will be
The days just flutter past
So take it from an old fool
Love again and do it fast
You may not follow my advice
But I’m sure glad you asked

Don’t let anybody tell you
you’re too old to love again
Cause anything can happen
and you never know just when

There’s no fool like an old fool
Some people like to say
But this fool’s back in love
And that’s where I’m gonna stay
They’ll write it on my tombstone
When I travel on someday
Could be this afternoon
I’m headed on my merry way
