Its been a year since you are gone
I barely can recall
The many things about you that I miss the most of all
I stumble to remember
What I can’t seem to forget
The things I loved about you from the moment that we met
I don’t miss your smile
I don’t miss your morning kiss
I don’t miss our evening walks on summer nights like this
I don’t miss your laughter or your perfume in the air
Knowing that when I’d come home you’d always be right there
I hardly think of you at all except infrequent times
Like when the sun comes up or when the stars begin to shine
It’s just those rare occasions that I think of you again
I swear it only happens to me every now and then
Like when it rains
Or when it snows
Or when the wind softly blows
The first of spring
Each summer night
Each time a flower grows
I don’t miss the times that you were fashionably late
Or watching you get dressed when we were going on a date
And I don’t miss your notes on the refrigerator door
The lipstick on your coffee cup that’s not there anymore
I don’t miss these things no I don’t miss them not at all
Not every day in spring or winter summer or the fall
I don’t think about you much
Since you have gone away
Just every now and then
In every minute every day
