Dancers In The Sky

Lyrics by Hal Pollock

There’s a very famous painting
It was your favorite one of all
The Renoir of the dancers
That is hanging on our wall
We went to see the painting
In the place they call Orsay
Right in the heart of Paris
Where forever it will stay

You took me there to see it
You stared at it all day
Enraptured by the painting
You couldn’t look away
That painting of the dancers
You said were you and me
You hung on our bedroom wall
Where forever it would be

Dancers in the sky
That resemble you and I
Dancing to the music lost inside each other’s eyes
Two dancers in the moonlight
High atop the midnight sky
Those dancers in the moonlight are a younger you and I

I’ve looked upon that painting
So many thousand times
And every time I look at it
The tears come to my eyes
I’m staring at that painting
And remember you and me
The days we spent together
Back when you were here with me

Now I look up to the heavens
And I think I see you there
Watching me and waiting
till we meet again somewhere

You left me on a summer’s day
So many years ago
I carried on without you
How I did I’ll never know
But soon I’ll be with you my love
And then our  hearts will fly
And we will dance our dance again
Two dancers in the sky

Dancers in the sky
That resemble you and I
Dancing to the music
lost inside each other’s eyes
Two dancers in the moonlight
High atop the midnight sky
Those dancers in the moonlight
Are a younger you and I
