I’m gonna share with you a story
And I swear that this is true
It’s about my lawman boyfriend
Who I call my Baby Blue
I went out to buy some groceries
A police car pulled behind
Then this Tom Cruise like policeman
At my window I did find
I stared up into his Ray-Ban’s
Said “Whatever did I do?
I know I wasn’t speedin’
Damn you sure look good in blue”
Baby Blue, Baby Blue
What’s a girl supposed to do?
When her heart’s in need of rescue
And her rescue looks like you
“License registration, Maam”
I heard that heartbreak say
“You’ve got a broken tail light
Can’t drive around that way”
“I’m just givin you a warning
Cause you’re pretty as can be
Maybe you can meet me later
I get off at 3”
“Why officer,” I said
“I thought you were arresting me
And it’s a crime to steal my heart and then to set me free
You should be reading me my rights
I’m just a prisoner wannabee
I won’t resist arrest
And you can throw away the key”
“I’m a sucker for a uniform
It sure looks good on you
Now that handsome hunk of lawman
I call my Baby Blue
Baby Blue, Baby Blue
What’s a girl supposed to do?
When her heart’s in need of rescue
And her rescue looks like you
We drive around in his police car
He puts his cuffs on me
Throws me down into the back seat
Gives me the third degree
If you’re out there buying groceries
And a cop pulls up to you
You never know just what might happen
He could be your Baby Blue
