A TABLE BY THE WINDOW

A Table By The Window

Lyrics by Hal Pollock

There was a table by the window
It was our favorite place in town
We’d meet there almost every night
And watch the world go ‘round
And each and every passerby
Their story we would tell
And they became like family
We knew them all so well

“I’ll meet you at our table”
I always used to say
“Half past six for dinner” Almost every other day
It was our table by the window
That special place of you and me
Where we’d pass away the hours
And we’d wonder what would be

It seems like only yesterday
That you were here with me
The days of wine and roses
When our life was so carefree
We’d sit there by the window
And till closing time we’d stay
Talking of tomorrow
While the years just slipped away

It was our window to the world
When life was heavenly
A picture of another time
Now just a memory
For now I sit here all alone
And wonder what will be
At our table by the window
I remember you and me

There was a table by the window
That belonged to you and me
We shared so many dreams there
And we planned for what would be
And somewhere on the wind
I know you still can hear me say
“I’ll meet you at our table
And till closing time we’ll stay”

“I’ll meet you at our table”
I always used to say
“Half past six for dinner” Almost every other day
The faces have all changed now
And my hair has turned to gray
But the memory still haunts me
And will never go away
