It was a love song for the ages
To last forever and a day
Now captured in these pages
Where forever it will stay

They met when he was twenty
She took his breath away
She had a glow about her
And a kind and gentle way
He kissed the ground she walked on
Brought her flowers every day
And she told him that she loved him
And forever she would stay

He was handsome and well spoken
And was prematurely grey
And he wrote for her a love song
In her arms he said he’d stay
And he sang to her that love song
Every morning every day
And they made a life together
They thought would never go away

It was a love song for the ages
To last forever and a day
Now captured in these pages
Where forever it will stay

Time was not their friend
And one day the skies turned grey
He wrote love songs to remember her
To chase the clouds away
Those love songs tell a story
About a love that came to stay
A love song for the ages
That will never fade away

He carries on without her
And their song plays on today
Remembered in this book
About a love that came to stay

It was a love song for the ages
To last forever and a day
Now captured in these pages
Where forever it will stay
